Journey to Music
Growing up in Naples, FL, the melodies of songwriters like James Taylor and Jackson Browne painted the backdrop of JP's childhood evenings. Surrounded by the resonant chords and meaningful lyrics, he absorbed the essence of storytelling through music. His father's interpretations of favorite lines left an indelible mark, laying the foundation for JP's own musical exploration.
Finding his Sound
JP's musical palette expanded when he discovered the local classic rock station on his mini FM radio. The intense energy of bands like Rush, Pearl Jam, AC/DC, and Whitesnake ignited a burning desire within him to recreate that sonic intensity. In 2013, JP made the move to Boston, where his studies at Berklee College of Music honed his skills as an artist and producer, fostering a profound understanding of both the creative and technical facets of music.
The Birth of Hallowed Smoke
The genesis of the project's name, Hallowed Smoke, can be traced to a quote from a New Mexico-based painter. The profound words spoke of striving to become "light and holy smoke" throughout life's journey. For JP, this resonated deeply, especially at a time when he sought to embody light even in moments of emptiness. Thus, Hallowed Smoke was born.
The Future
Since the debut of "Blind Faith," JP has continued his musical exploration, collaborating with Nirvan Athreya and Atlanta-based rapper MaDiac on "Don't Shoulder It." Currently, Hallowed Smoke is gearing up for the release of two more songs in 2024 while actively working on additional demos. The journey of Hallowed Smoke continues, marked by a commitment to meaningful music and a constant pursuit of artistic evolution.
